A 12-week medical exercise therapy program leads to significant improvement in knee function after degenerative meniscectomy: A randomized controlled trial with one year follow-up

42 patients with knee pain (>2 months), who had undergone partial menisectomy for a degenerative meniscus tear were randomized to either supervised medical exercise therapy or no treatment. The study aimed to evaluate the clinical and functional outcomes up to 1 year. Results indicated that VAS scores, quadriceps muscle strength deficit, KOOS, HADS, one-leg jump test scores, and mean isokinetic biodex scores for quadriceps and hamstring muscle strength all significantly favoured the exercise group over the control group at all follow-up periods.
