2017 COA Annual Meeting: Intravenous and topical tranexamic acid acid in primary total hip arthroplasty: the tranexamic acid comparison in hip replacement (TeACH-R) ranomized controlled trial

124 patients scheduled for cementless total hip arthroplasty were randomized to be administered either intraarticular tranexamic acid or intravenous tranexamic acid. Patients were assessed for total blood loss, maximum haemoglobin drop, the incidence of transfusion, and the incidence of thromboembolic complications. Results demonstrated no significant differences between groups for either blood loss, Hb drop, or transfusion rate, and no patient in either group experienced a thromboembolic event.
