2017 AAOS Annual Meeting: Effect of NSAID Use in the Acute Phase of Skeletally Immature Bone Healing: A Prospective, Randomized Study

OE Journal. 2017;5(7):1581 pediatric patients with a long bone fracture were randomized to analgesia with either NSAID (ibuprofen) or acetaminophen. Patients were assessed over 6-month follow-up for fracture healing rate, time to fracture healing, and pain scores. Results demonstrated no significant differences between groups in fracture healing or pain scores during follow-up. Median time to fracture healing was 42-44 days in both groups, and all fractures had healed by 6 months.
