Fascial Manipulation Associated With Standard Care Compared to Only Standard Postsurgical Care for Total Hip Arthroplasty: A Randomized Controlled Trial

51 patients who had undergone primary total hip arthroplasty were randomized to 10-day postoperative standard-of-care (SoC) rehabilitation with or without the addition of fascial manipulation (FM) intervention. The purpose of this study was to compare changes in the hip range of motion, functional performance on the Timed-Up-and-Go (TUG) test, verbal numeric scale for pain, and the Harris Hip Score between groups. Results demonstrated a significantly greater increase in hip flexion, hip abduction, and hip extension ranges of motion and HHS in the FM group compared to SoC alone group, but no significant differences between groups in the changes in TUG test scores, pain scores, or range of hip external rotation.
