2016 OTA Annual Meeting: Should Displaced Scapular Body Fractures Be Operatively Treated? A Randomized Controlled Trial

OE Journal. 2016;4(20):2039 patients with displaced scapular body fractures were randomized to either operative management with plates and screws, or nonoperative management. The purpose of this study was to compare clinical, radiographic, and functional outcomes between groups for up to 2 year follow-up. While the range of motion in certain planes was signficantly greater in the operative group after 6 weeks and 1 year, there were no differences in functional outcomes between groups at 2-year follow-up.
