Lidocaine Skin Patch (Lidopat® 5%) Is Effective in the Treatment of Traumatic Rib Fractures: A Prospective Double-Blinded and Vehicle-Controlled Study
Med Princ Pract. 2016;25(1):36-944 patients with isolated rib fractures were randomized to receive either a lidocaine pain relief skin patch or a placebo vehicle patch. The purpose of this study was to determine whether the Lidopat® 5% skin patch was effective in treating traumatic rib fracture pain. The results displayed significantly less pain, lower use of meperidine, and a shorter hospital stay in patients using the lidocaine skin patch compared to the placebo patch after 7 days of follow-up.
