No difference in effectiveness between focused and radial shockwave therapy for treating patellar tendinopathy: a randomized controlled trial

43 patients (57 tendons) with patellar tendinopathy were randomly allocated to undergo 3 sessions of radial or focused shockwave therapy, with the purpose of comparing the efficacy of the two shockwave treatments. Both therapies improved Victorian Institute of Sport Assessment-Patella (VISA-P) questionnaire scores and pain scores up to 14 weeks post-treatment, but no significant between-group differences were observed. As a result, it was not possible to recommend one shockwave therapy over the other.
