Mini-plate versus Kirschner wire internal fixation for treatment of metacarpal and phalangeal fractures in Chinese Han population: a meta-analysis
J Orthop Surg Res. 2014 Apr 11;9(1):2418 randomized controlled trials or retrospective case control studies that compared the effect of mini-plate fixation with K-wire fixation for the treatment of metacarpal and phalangeal fractures were pooled to determine the overall effectiveness of each treatment on Chinese Han individuals. Results of the study indicated that mini-plate internal fixation resulted in significantly lower fracture healing time, postoperative infection rate, complication incidence, and surgery time when compared to K-wire fixation.
