No difference in clinical outcome between fixed- and mobile-bearing TKA: a meta-analysis
Knee Surg Sports Traumatol Arthrosc. 2014 Mar;22(3):565-75. doi: 10.1007/s00167-012-2313-y. Epub 2012 Dec 2.24 level I or II randomized controlled trials (n=2,799 patients), which compared the use of mobile- and fixed-bearings in total knee arthroplasty (TKA) were included in this review. The purpose of this study was to compare these two implants in regards to clinical, functional and radiological outcomes. Results at a minimum follow-up of 1 year indicated that there was no significant difference between groups in Knee Society Scores, range of motion, radiolucent line, patient preference, walking support, or the incidence of complications. Mobile bearings were associated with a lower pain score.
