Efficacy of continuous subacromial bupivacaine infusion for pain control after arthroscopic rotator cuff repair

OE Journal. 2014;2(1):16 J Shoulder Elbow Surg. 2013 Oct;22(10):1320-496 patients who underwent arthroscopic rotator cuff repair were included in this study to determine the effects of a continuous bupivacaine subacromial infusion catheter. Pain and consumption of pain medications were compared between patients who were administered a bupivacaine catheter, a saline solution catheter and a control group with no catheter. The results suggest that bupivacaine did not reduce postoperative pain or the need for medication any more than the placebo.
