Accuracy of In-Office Nerve Conduction Studies for Median Neuropathy: A Meta-Analysis

This meta-analysis aimed to determine the efficacy of using in-office nerve conduction studies (NCS) for identifying median neuropathy (MN), specifically carpal tunnel syndrome. Traditional electrodiagnostic tests were used as the reference standard. MEDLINE was searched for studies that evaluated the aforementioned relationship. Five studies, with a total of 448 symptomatic hands, were included in the meta-analysis. Results illustrated that in-office NCS identified MN with clinical accuracy as indicated by the pooled diagnostic odds ratio, sensitivity, and specificity.
