A three-week multidisciplinary in-patient rehabilitation programme had positive long-term effects in patients with ankylosing spondylitis: randomized controlled trial

OE Journal. 2013;1(4):30 J Rehabil Med. 2013 Mar 6;45(3):260-7. doi: 10.2340/16501977-1078100 patients were randomized to undergo a 3 week multi-disciplinary rehabilitation programme or receive usual treatment, in order to compare the impact of the methods on treating ankylosing spondylitis. Following evaluations over a 12 month period, results indicated that patients who underwent the 3 week rehabilitation programme experienced positive overall effects in disease activity, pain, function, and well-being, in comparison to those who received usual treatment.
