Comparison of Mobile-Bearing and Fixed-Bearing Total Knee Arthroplasty: A Prospective Randomized Study

OE Journal. 2014;2(13):10 J Arthroplasty. 2005 Feb;20(2):145-53197 patients (210 knees) undergoing total knee arthroplasty (TKA) were randomized to receive an established fixed-bearing posterior-stabilized prosthesis or a meniscal-bearing prosthesis. Over an average of 36 months, the fixed-bearing group demonstrated a significantly higher maximum flexion compared to the meniscal-bearing group. However, the two groups did not differ significantly in knee scores, function, patellar scores, and radiographic outcomes.
