Posterior cruciate substituting versus posterior cruciate retaining total knee arthroplasty prostheses: A meta-analysis

9 randomized control trials were identified (1261 knees) that assessed the use of posterior-substituting prostheses or cruciate-retaining prostheses during total knee arthroplasty (TKA). The results of the meta-analysis indicate that there were no statistically significant differences in knee scores, complications, or radiological outcomes between the two prostheses. Furthermore, post-operative range of motion was found to be statistically greater in the posterior-substituting prostheses. However, this difference was not clinically significant.
