Dr. Peter Lapner expands on his study comparing single-row and double-row fixation for rotator cuff repairs
90 patients undergoing arthroscopic rotator cuff repair were randomised to either single-row or double-row suture techniques to compare differences in functional outcomes and healing rates. Results indicated that there were no significant differences in Western Ontario Rotator Cuff (WORC) Index, Constant Score, American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES) Score or strength between the two techniques at 2 years. However, based on multivariate regression analysis it was noted that the double-row technique and the incidence of smaller initial tears had higher healing rates following MRI assessment.
