Posterior lumbar interbody fusion using non resorbable poly-ether-ether-ketone versus resorbable poly-L-lactide-co-D,L-lactide fusion devices. Clinical outcome at a minimum of 2-year follow-up

26 patients with chronic back pain and irradiating lower extremity symptoms underwent instrumented posterior lumbar interbody fusion using either a nonresorbable Telamon PEEK cage or a resorbable Telamon PLDDLA cage, to aid in fusion. Results of this randomized study indicate that almost all clinical outcomes improved for the PEEK group at 2-year evaluation when compared to preoperative scores; however, no clinical outcomes showed statistical improvement for the PLDLLA group.
