Effect of three-volt moxibustion with helium-neon laser irradiation on quality of care in patients with lumbar radiculopathy spondylosis.

One hundred twenty patients with lumbar radiculopathy spondylosis were randomized to receive three-volt moxibustion combined with helium-neon laser irradiation (n=60) or lumbar traction (n=60). The primary outcome of interest was the reduction in pain levels measured by the numerical rating scale (NRS). Secondary outcomes included lumbar spine motor function measured using Japanese Orthopedic Association (JOA) scores, clinical treatment effectiveness rates, and nursing care satisfaction scores. Outcomes were assessed after one month. Overall, the results revealed that the moxibustion-laser combination led to significantly lower pain scores and higher JOA scores compared to lumbar traction. The treatment effectiveness rate was also superior in the observation group. These findings suggest that this combined therapy could serve as a more effective alternative to lumbar traction for improving clinical symptoms and patient satisfaction in lumbar radiculopathy spondylosis.
