Bone Marrow Stimulation for Arthroscopic Rotator Cuff Repair: A Meta-analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials.

Five hundred seventy-six patients with rotator cuff tears were randomized to receive arthroscopic rotator cuff repair with bone marrow stimulation (n=284) or without bone marrow stimulation (control, n=292). The primary outcome of interest was the retear rate. Secondary outcomes included the Constant score, the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES) score, and the visual analog scale (VAS) score. Outcomes were assessed up to 24 months. Overall, the results revealed no statistically significant differences between groups in retear rates or in functional scores (e.g., Constant score, ASES score, or VAS). The study concluded that bone marrow stimulation does not improve retear rates or clinical outcomes after arthroscopic rotator cuff repair.
