Neurophysiological pain education for patients with symptomatic knee osteoarthritis: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

Seven studies, including 870 patients with symptomatic knee osteoarthritis, were included in this systematic review and meta-analysis comparing neurophysiological pain education (NPE) versus various control conditions, including usual care and other interventions. Pooled outcomes of interest included pain intensity and catastrophization. The meta-analysis showed significant improvements in pain and catastrophization favoring NPE. These findings suggest that NPE can effectively reduce pain and catastrophization in patients with symptomatic knee osteoarthritis, providing valuable information for clinical management strategies.
