The Reverse Fragility Index of Graft Failure Rates between Hamstring and Bone-Patellar Tendon-Bone Autografts for Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials Reporting a Non-Significant Result
16 randomized controlled trials (RCTs) comparing hamstring tendons vs. bone-patellar tendon-bone autographs (BTB) reporting non-significant differences in graft failure rates were included in this systematic review and meta-analysis assessing the statistical fragility of the graft failure rate outcome. This outcome was assessed using the reverse fragility index (RFI). The median RFI required to change a test from statistically non-significant to significant was 3 patients, or 4% of the population, suggesting that the statistical robustness of studies reporting non-significant graft failure is low.
