2022 COA Annual Meeting : Evaluating the effects of adding pain neuroscience education to conventional physical therapy program in patients with chronic neck pain: a randomized control trial

Thirty patients with chronic neck pain were randomized to receive either conventional physiotherapy (control) or convention physiotherapy with pain neuroscience education (intervention). Outcomes of interest included central sensitization, pain, function, psychosocial factors, knowledge of neuropsychology of pain, and quality of life. The results of this trial found that neurophysiology of pain scores and pain vigilance and awareness scores were significantly more improved in the education group compared to the control group. No other between group differences were observed.
