The CANBACK trial: a randomised, controlled clinical trial of oral cannabidiol for people presenting to the emergency department with acute low back pain

研究概要

One hundred patients with acute, non-traumatic low back pain presenting to the emergency department were randomized to receive a single-dose of oral cannabidiol (400mg) or placebo in addition to standard emergency department analgesic medication. The primary outcome of interest was pain score two hours after administration of the study agent on a verbal numerical pain scale. Secondary outcomes included length of stay, need for rescue analgesia and adverse events. There was no significant differences in mean pain scores found between the two groups. The median length of stay, need for rescue medication and reported side effects were similar between the two groups.
