Caught in the COVID-19 Crossfire: Supporting Patients Facing Surgical Uncertainty

Surgical services are slowly reopening, but the lingering uncertainty around COVID-19 has left many patients anxious, especially those whose “elective” procedures were postponed. For orthopaedic patients, these delays often mean worsening pain, declining function, and a sense of being overlooked, with studies describing feelings of frustration, unfairness, and even embarrassment.
