3D-Side Delivers Patient-Specific Instruments for Catalyst OrthoScience .
A growing shift toward personalised orthopaedic surgery is accelerating the adoption of patient-specific instrumentation (PSI). In this collaboration, 3D-Side has successfully manufactured and delivered customised surgical guides for Catalyst OrthoScience’s Archer PSI shoulder arthroplasty platform, marking an important step in translating preoperative 3D planning into real-world surgical precision. Following FDA 510(k) clearance, the Archer PSI system has entered limited market release and has already been used in both anatomic and reverse shoulder arthroplasty procedures, supporting preparation of both the glenoid and humerus—an uncommon combination among PSI solutions. The partnership highlights the maturation of integrated digital workflows that link imaging, planning software, and additive manufacturing to improve implant positioning accuracy and procedural efficiency. As enabling technologies continue to evolve, PSI platforms such as Archer may help surgeons better reproduce preoperative plans intraoperatively, potentially improving consistency and scalability in shoulder arthroplasty.
