Medical Cannabis for Sleep – Scoping the Evidence
Sleep difficulties are common, and growing interest in cannabinoids has prompted closer study of their potential to improve sleep quality. A broad review of randomized trials spanning several decades shows that research has been carried out across multiple countries and in varied patient groups, from neuropathic pain and multiple sclerosis to cancer and primary insomnia. Trials have tested a range of cannabinoid products, including THC, CBD, combination sprays, and synthetic formulations. Across these comparisons, roughly half suggested some sleep benefit, while many others produced mixed or uncertain results, underscoring that cannabinoid effects on sleep remain promising but far from settled.
