ORIGINAL ANALYSIS

Collagenase or fasciotomy for the treatment of Dupuytren’s contracture? A network meta- analysis.

Evidence comparing collagenase and fasciotomy for Dupuytren’s contracture suggests both treatments offer meaningful short-term and sustained improvement, with clear advantages over placebo in reducing contracture and increasing motion. No meaningful difference emerges when the two treatments are compared directly. Safety signals, however, differ: collagenase shows a notable rise in adverse events relative to placebo, while fasciotomy does not, though available data for fasciotomy are limited. Overall, findings point to comparable efficacy but raise caution around collagenase safety, highlighting the need for larger, methodologically robust trials to refine confidence in both benefit and risk.
