Orthopaedic Surgeon - United Kingdom

This is a very interesting summary of these two important trials. Thank you. However, your review doesn't really address the key methodological issue, which is the choice of trial design. Shouldn't investigators be seeking evidence of superiority when testing new surgical interventions? Particularly, when those interventions are more expensive for patients/healthcare systems than usual care. Matthew Costa

Great point – evidence of superiority is needed for evaluation of new surgical approaches, especially when a new approach does not demonstrate reduction in cost and/or harm! OrthoEvidence will keep watching for the new trials of the topic and incorporate them into our evidence synthesis and appraisal. Thank you for your comment!
