Hip arthroscopy versus physical therapy for femoroacetabular impingement: OE M.I.N.D. Analytics Report .

Hip arthroscopy has gained momentum over the last two decades, yet high-quality evidence remains limited. A recent systematic review—drawing on three small RCTs—suggests that arthroscopy offers better short-term function and quality-of-life outcomes than physical therapy for femoroacetabular impingement, though the certainty of evidence is very low due to methodological issues and small samples. OE M.I.N.D. also identified seven ongoing studies across varied hip conditions, but their projected enrollment remains modest. Taken together, the landscape points to a clear need for larger, rigorous trials with longer follow-up to clarify when hip arthroscopy provides meaningful benefit and for whom.
