OE Journal. 2015;3(21):16 Injury. 2015 Apr;46(4):552-7.48 patients were randomized to receive mind body skill-based interventions in addition to standard care or standard care alone in this preliminary study. Patients were at risk for chronic pain and disability after having experienced acute musculoskeletal trauma. Results of this pilot study indicated that the addition of relaxation response and cognitive behavioral intervention to standard medical care is feasible and acceptable, and demonstrated significant effects on parameters of disability, coping strategies, and mood of patients.
