Synopsis

200 ankle replacements (100 Scandinavian Total Ankle Replacement [STAR] and 100 Buechel-Pappas ankle replacement [BP]) were performed and monitored for a minimum of 36 months. The statistical analysis showed that the BP prosthesis was marginally better than the STAR prosthesis in terms of survivorship; however, this result did not attain statistical significance (p-value = 0.09).
