Synopsis
A meta-analysis of 28 randomized controlled trials was conducted to compare the safety, efficacy, and durability of acupuncture therapy for sciatica. The total effective rate, pain measured using the Visual Analog Scale (VAS), and pressure pain threshold were measured. All three outcomes were significantly better in the acupuncture group, compared to analgesics use.
