Four randomized controlled trials were included in this meta-analysis which compared the outcomes of intravenous dexamethasone and placebo/control for pain control after total knee arthroplasty. Pooled analysis of pain scores and narcotic consumption significantly favoured intravenous dexamethasone groups from 12-48 hours postoperatively.
