Synopsis

25 patients with an acute nondisplaced fracture of the scaphoid waist were randomized to receive treatment with either cast immobilization or percutaneous screw fixation. Patients were evaluated over 2 years for time to fracture union, wrist motion, grip strength, return to work, and overall patient satisfaction.
