Synopsis

386 patients (>18 yr) who had been scheduled for 389 total hip arthroplasties were randomized to receive thromboprophylaxis by either a mobile compression device (CECT SFT) or standardly accepted low-molecular-weight heparin (LMWH).The CECT SFT demonstrated effective thromboprophylaxis with a better safety profile (fewer major bleeding events) compared to LMWH.
