Synopsis

79 patients (>50 yr old) with diabetes mellitus and neuropathy were randomized to weight-bearing exercises, in order to determine the effect of exercises on the balance and incidence of falls. After 12 months of exercise, there was a small increase in the amount of time that participants in the intervention group could stand on 1 leg with their eyes closed.
