Synopsis

7 randomized controlled trials (424 patients, 525 symptomatic OVCFs) were pooled in this meta-analysis to assess the safety profile of balloon kyphoplasty (BKP) in patients with osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures (OVCF). Results identified cement leakages (18%), serious clinical complications (11.5%), and subsequent fractures (20%) in patients following BKP surgery.
