Synopsis

250 patients with severe hip osteoarthritis were randomized to either receive ibuprofen or celecoxib to determine the relative benefits of these drugs in preventing heterotopic ossification following total hip replacement (THR). The results at 3 months post-op indicated that a ten day trial of celecoxib during the post-op period reduced the risk of heterotopic ossification.
