62 patients scheduled to undergo primary TKA for knee osteoarthritis were randomly allocated to receive a topical application of a novel fibrin sealant (Evicel) or standard treatment (no application of Evicel), with the purpose of examining its ability to limit blood loss and reduce the need for blood transfusions.
