Synopsis

48 patients, younger than 65 and with hip disease were randomized to undergo either a hip resurfacing (HR) or total hip arthroplasty (THA) procedure. At 3 month follow up, both groups had improved functional scores matching non-operated individuals; however, the HR did not provide better clinical outcomes when compared to the large-head total hip arthroplasty.
